Last week, more than 175,000 industry professionals swarmed Las Vegas from all over the world to attend CES, the world’s largest annual showcase of innovation in consumer technology. More than 4,400 companies exhibited at the show and the ADT booth was a must-see destination.

In addition to the booth, ADT was a hot topic with the media with our big product and news announcements, including the launch of our new DIY system, Blue by ADT, demonstrations of our mobile security platform and integration with Lyft and new enhancements to our award-winning professionally installed system, Command and Control.

The booth brought our recent brand transformation to life, where attendees had the opportunity to partake in a fun “trust fall” into a foam pit, sample tasty heirloom dessert treats, watch live demonstrations from internet sensation, the Icing Artist, and interact with product displays demonstrating how ADT provides customizable security and safety options for consumers at home and beyond.

The buzz and excitement was palpable, especially around our big news announcements from the show.

#1: Blue by ADT—A New DIY Smart Home Security Brand from ADT

Attendees got a first-hand look of the new Blue by ADT DIY system that was introduced the first day of the show. Founded on the pioneering work of LifeShield, acquired by ADT in 2019, Blue by ADT provides lifestyle-driven security solutions for customers who prefer the flexibility of highly portable equipment and no-contract, month-to-month professional monitoring options. The LifeShield brand has become Blue by ADT; LifeShield systems will continue to be supported by the Blue by ADT team and are interoperable with Blue by ADT cameras.

The three Blue by ADT smart cameras and a WiFi extender and chime that were on display are now available for pre-order and will begin shipping before the end of January. Additional Blue by ADT security system components - such as a base, keypad and sensors - will launch in Spring 2020. Blue by ADT works with Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and IFTTT - so customers can enjoy a wide range of options for integrating their smart home devices into a seamless security solution. #2: Safe by ADT—ADT Professional Monitoring for App-Based Service Providers

Introduced in October 2019, Safe by ADT is a new, data-driven platform that extends the safety and security of our professional monitoring services to our partners’ mobile app experiences.

Currently in its pilot phase and rolling out in 10 cities this month, the Safe by ADT platform will debut in partnership with Lyft in the form of an ADT-powered safety feature within the Lyft app. The feature discreetly connects Lyft users who feel unsafe - by voice or SMS chat - with an ADT professionally trained security professional at one of ADT’s monitoring centers. The ADT security professional will alert authorities as needed, enabling first responders to arrive at the user's location equipped with detailed incident information.

#3: ADT Command and Control—New Features & Security Beyond the Home

Last but certainly not least, we are thrilled to introduce new products and enhancements to our award-winning ADT Command and Control professionally installed security and smart home system:

  • Connected Car Integration: Available this month is an automotive DIY installable device that integrates with ADT Control, allowing customers to track their vehicles, monitor car diagnostics (e.g. low fuel, low battery, engine light, unexpected movement) to keep their cars running and their families safe - and set up GPS-enabled automations via their smart home security system.

  • ProSeries Camera: In March, a ProSeries Indoor/Outdoor Camera minidome with 1080p HD video capabilities will be available.

  • Streaming Video Recorder: This spring, we’re introducing a 720p streaming video recorder that allows for continuous recording of up to eight devices with up to 2TB of storage—or 39 days’ worth of footage.

  • Enhanced Analytics: In the first half of the year, our system will incorporate new enhanced analytics to further improve video detection and filtering of subjects—including differentiating between people, vehicles and pets. In addition, the system can also detect if a visitor is loitering too long.

CES 2020 was a big success and we look forward to continuing to share more news and updates throughout the year. In 2020, securing peace of mind for you and your family is easier than ever. Check out all of our human-protection products and services here!
