What’s better than one healthy air fryer recipe? Two healthy air fryer recipes. Comin’ at ya in one blog post. We’re going to show you how to make Coconut Crusted Air Fryer Avocado Fries and Air Fryer Apple Fritter Bites. Not that you have to make both of these recipes at once, but now that we think about it, they would make a great appetizer and dessert pairing!

 

How do you know if someone has an air fryer or not? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you how much they love it. Seriously though, air fryers almost have a cult following at this point, and we are proud members. They may have been around for years, but their popularity really spiked within the past year or two. Which is exactly why we asked healthy recipe extraordinaire, @thebalancedwhisk, to create these two recipes for us.  

 

If your air fryer is still in its box because it seems too intimidating, worry not. It’s actually very easy to use and we’ll bet it will quickly become one of your favorite kitchen appliances! Safe at Home Recipe: Coconut Crusted Avocado Fries 

Ingredients: 

  • 10 avocado slices
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 cup flour 
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt 
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder 
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions:

  1. In one bowl, whisk together the flour, pepper, sea salt and garlic powder. In a second bowl, whisk one egg. In a third bowl, place the shredded coconut.
  2. Take one slice of avocado through bowls 1, 2 and then 3 until fully coated. Repeat for all slices.
  3. Air fry each side at 350°F for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

Safe at Home Recipe: Air Fryer Apple Fritters

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 apple, peeled and diced
  • 3 tbsp yogurt

Glaze:

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Spray your air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg together in a large bowl, then mix in in diced apples.
  3. Once apples are coated, use a spoon to mix in yogurt. 
  4. Form 1-2” balls of dough with hands, and space them apart in the air fryer basket. 
  5. Air fry at 375°F for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown on top. 
  6. Whisk the glaze ingredients together and brush over each fritter. Enjoy.
