What happens if my Wi-Fi goes down or if there is a power outage?
Your ADT security system comes with cellular alarm event backup. In the event your Wi-Fi is disconnected, alarm events can still be sent out from the ADT Base over Cellular Data and/or Cellular SMS connection. If your Base is reporting cellular signal issues, there are a few things you can try to improve your signal strength. To diagnose and resolve network or Wi-Fi related issues, learn more here. The ADT Base and the security system’s sensors also include features that help ensure operation for several hours during a power outage, such as 24-hour battery backup. Google Nest cameras and doorbells will automatically store up to one hour of recorded events in its local memory. You will also receive notifications upon loss and restoration. When things are up and running again, you’ll be able to see exactly what happened.

Plus, automate event-based or scheduled access and notify trusted people of events with the ADT+® app. Auto unlock uses location-based services from the trusted person’s phone in tandem with familiar face detection via the Google Nest Doorbell to verify their identity and unlock and disarm your home. You can also use Auto unlock yourself as a hands-free way to get into your home.
§ Trusted Neighbor features require ADT Complete (includes Nest Aware) pro monitoring plan, Google familiar face detection, ADT Base, and compatible smart lock and camera devices. Familiar face detection is not to be used as definitive identification, and is not available on Nest cameras used in Illinois.
