If you'd like to adventure into making your own cold brew, it’s easy! You get to choose your favorite coffee beans, choose the taste and intensity of the brew, and doesn’t everything taste a little better when you’ve made it yourself? To make your own cold brew:
- Coarsely grind 1 cup of your favorite coffee beans
- Pour into a large bottle, pitcher, or jar that you can seal, along with 4 cups of water. Stir gently with a spoon to make sure everything is incorporated.
- Cover and let steep for about 12 hours, either on your counter or in the fridge. When you’re ready, pour your coffee mixture through a fine strainer that will catch all the grounds.
- Viola! You have cold brew. You can store the coffee in this form for up to a week in the fridge if it even lasts that long.
Want to really wow yourself? While your homemade cold brew is brewing, make a fresh pot of hot coffee, pour it into ice cube molds and freeze. When coffee ice cubes melt, you won’t risk diluting the flavor of your beautiful creation.
After all the toppings and mix-ins are in, your perfect cold brew is ready! Grab a glass or mug, throw some ice cubes in, find your favorite reusable straw and enjoy.
