There’s a lot of uncertainty hanging around the upcoming holiday season. Traveling to see family across the country may not be a viable option, and virtual get-togethers are becoming more of a norm. Whether you’ll be entertaining during the holidays or tuning in via webcam, it’s always good to have your house smelling great. Instead of smelling up your home with scented candles or air fresheners this year, why not try a page from your grandmother’s book: a simmer pot!

Simmer pots are the picture of simplistic elegance. Take some fresh fall produce and a pot of boiling water, simmer for up to 4 hours and enjoy the clean, sweet smells of fall subtly filling your house.

For this visually stunning recipe, fresh oranges and cranberries form a rich, fruity base. Ginger, cinnamon, and cloves add some spice. Rosemary adds a hint of floral smell, and vanilla and apple cider add a slight sweetness while the pot simmers. The combination of these aromas can fill your home better than any scented candle.

Once you try this simmer pot, find your own variation! Combine the best-smelling seasonal produce with your favorite aromatic classics like vanilla and cinnamon. Then, share your recipe on social using #SafeAtHome. The greatest part about simmer pots is that no two simmer pots will smell the same. Now get smelling!
