For some reason when that first day of fall hits, we are completely overcome with an insatiable craving for pumpkin. Pumpkin ~everything~. Pumpkin drinks, scented candles, breads, chilis, pumpkin-patterned socks and towels, and whatever else we can get our hands on. These DIY mini pumpkin candles can adorn your fall table, your mantle, or a corner shelf that needs some brightening.

Mini pumpkins are so much easier to clean out than large pumpkins. All the seeds and goo can be cleaned out in a few scoops, leaving the rest of the project to be enjoyed rather than rushed through. When choosing paint colors, think about what kinds of fall colors fit best with your home’s aesthetic. Jewel tones, shades of orange and cream, maybe even a neutral gray? Painting the pumpkins was the most satisfying part of this project.

After your pumpkins have been cleaned out and painted, they’ll be ready for their candles. We use LED tealights instead of open-flame tealights because we like having the freedom to walk away from them and know that our home and family are safe from fire hazards.

When you’ve finished your mini pumpkin candles, take a picture! We’d love to see what your final product looks like in our Safe at Home Facebook Group.
