The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) increases the regulatory requirements for companies that manufacture, supply, process, pack or hold food products. By requiring food facilities to evaluate hazards in their operations, implement and monitor effective measures to prevent contamination, and have a plan in place to take corrective actions when needed, the FSMA shifts the focus of the FDA from response to prevention.
