How do I install it?
The Yale Smart Lock with ADT includes easy installation. It replaces your existing deadbolt using just a screwdriver, no hardwiring or drilling required. Simply remove your current deadbolt, attach the Yale Smart Lock following the included instructions, and secure the interior and exterior components. Once installed, connect the lock to your ADT security system through the ADT+ app. The app will guide you through pairing the device, setting access codes, and testing functionality.

Yes, you can easily change and reset access codes for your Yale Smart Lock through the ADT+ app. You can create, edit, or delete up to 250 unique entry codes at any time. This allows you to give temporary or permanent access to family members, friends, or service providers, and remove codes when they’re no longer needed. Changes sync with the lock, giving you control over who can enter your home and when.
Is it resistant to tampering?
Yes, the Yale Smart Lock is built with tamper-resistant features to help enhance your home’s security. If someone tries to physically tamper with the lock or force it open, the system can detect the interference and send an instant alert through your ADT system. You’ll be notified through the ADT+ app.
What happens if my Wi-Fi or power goes down?
The Yale Smart Lock will continue to work if your Wi-Fi goes down. The lock communicates with your Base using a secure connection, not your home Wi-Fi network. You can still lock and unlock the door using the keypad, and the system will continue to monitor activity. Remote access through the ADT+ app may be limited during a Wi-Fi outage, but local functionality remains operational.
If the power goes out, the Yale Smart Lock will continue to operate normally. It is battery-powered, so you can still lock and unlock your door using the keypad. Your Base also has a backup battery, which allows it to stay connected and continue monitoring the lock during an outage. This helps to ensure your home remains secure and accessible even when the power is down.
