What is this product?
The Keypad is a touch-control panel that lets you arm and disarm your smart home security system from the most convenient spots in your home. Working seamlessly with the Base, this smart security keypad provides an additional access point to control your alarm system without using your smartphone. It features arming options and panic button functionality for emergencies. Ideal for placing near entryways or bedrooms.
What are the key features?
Key features include:
- Keypad control: Easily arm or disarm your ADT security system.
- Audio signals: Be alerted of alarms or triggers via built in speaker and alarm system.
- Customizable access: Supports user codes, so multiple members of your household can securely control the system.
- Wall mount or desktop use: Versatile mounting options allow for easy mounting on walls or placement on flat surfaces.
- 24 hour battery back up: Keeps your system running during power outages.
- LED and audio feedback: Provides visual and audible cues to confirm actions like arming, disarming, or triggering alerts.
How do I install it?
The Keypad allows for simple installation. You can mount it on a wall near entry points or place it on a flat surface like a table or shelf. To install, insert the included batteries, power on the device, and follow the step-by-step instructions in the ADT+ app to pair it with your Base. The keypad is lightweight and can be easily repositioned for convenience.
Where should I place the Keypad?
For the best performance, place your Keypad near main entry or exit points such as the front door, back door, or garage entrance. These locations make it easy to arm or disarm your system as you come and go. You can also place a second keypad in high-traffic areas like the hallway or near bedrooms for quick access during an emergency. Whether wall-mounted or placed on a flat surface.
What is the difference between the Keypad and Base?
While the Base is the hub of your home security system, the Keypad is a device that provides an additional point of control. It allows you to arm and disarm your system, trigger panic alerts, and check system status from other areas of your home.
What automations does it support?
The Keypad supports smart home automations by working in sync with your Base and other connected devices. While the keypad itself doesn’t create automations, the actions you perform, like arming or disarming the system, can trigger custom routines through the ADT+ app.
Is it resistant to tampering?
Yes, the Keypad includes tamper detection features to help protect your security system. If someone attempts to remove they keypad from the wall or desk mount, it can trigger a tamper alert that is sent to your ADT Base and the ADT+ app. This helps ensure your system stays secure and that any unauthorized activity is detected right away.
What data and videos does it store?
The Keypad does not store video footage or personal data. It functions solely as a control interface that communicates with the Base. The keypad may temporarily store basic operational data, such as the last user code entered or recent system commands, to ensure smooth functionality. However, it does not retain or display video from ADT cameras.
What happens if my Wi-Fi or power goes down?
The Keypad will continue to function if your Wi-Fi goes down. It communicates wirelessly with the ADT Base using a secure local connection, not your home’s Wi-Fi network. As long as the Base remains powered and connected, the keypad can still arm and disarm your system, trigger alerts, and display system status. This helps to ensure reliable in-home control even during internet outages.
If the power goes out, the Keypad will continue to operate using its built-in 24 hour battery backup. You can still arm and disarm your system, trigger panic alerts, and check status as usual.
