This sensor will alert you if it is tampered with during a potential break in attempt and supports convenient smart home automations, like turning the lights on when you walk into your front door. With Convenience Mode, you can also use this sensor to help secure interior rooms and cabinets, such as your child's room or medicine cabinets. It's easy to install, discreet, and a core part of your smart home security system. It works by using a magnetic circuit that detects when a door or window is opened or closed.

How do I install it?
Installing the Door/Window Sensor couldn't be easier. Just align the sensor and magnet within .5” when closed and mount them on a clean surface using pre-applied adhesive backing—no tools or wiring required!

What happens if my Wi-Fi or power goes down?
The Door/Window Sensor will still work if your Wi-Fi goes down. The sensor communicates with your Base using a dedicated wireless signal, independent from Wi-Fi. As long as your system is powered, it will continue to monitor activity and send alerts. If the power goes out, your Door/Window Sensor will continue to function normally. The sensor runs on a battery, is connected wirelessly to your ADT Base, and doesn’t rely on your home’s power. Plus, your Base has a 24-hour built-in backup battery, so it can keep sending alerts during power outages. This helps to ensure continuous performance, even when the lights go out.
