Multi-Factor Authentication in Pulse App

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to every online platform you access. The first layer is generally a combination of a username and password. Adding one more step of authenticating your identity makes it harder for an attacker to access your data. The additional security measure for an account usually requires the entry of an additional code, received as an either an email, SMS text message or a voice call, after logging into an account with a login name and password.

Multi-factor authentication can help drastically reduces the chances of fraud, data loss, or identity theft.

 

Passwords have been the most common way to authenticate. But, using just a password alone still presents a risk. Here are some worrying facts about this traditional security measure:

  • 90% of passwords can be cracked in less than six hours
  • Two-thirds of people use the same password everywhere
  • Sophisticated cyber attackers have the power to test billions of passwords every second

Your passwords can still be vulnerable, which is the main reason for requiring and using MFA.

When you login to your Pulse app. Follow the prompts to set up MFA.

 

 

 

  1. Choose a method of verification: email, SMS/text, or voice (phone call) and enter the email address or phone number of your choice.
  2. Request a one-time pin code to be sent to that chosen method of verification
  3. Enter the one-time pin code that you received into the Pulse App
  4. Confirm or edit the device name that you are currently using
  5. If you select “Always Trust this Device” when you log in to your Pulse account on this device, you will not have to request and submit a code.
  6. If you select “Require Verification with every sign-in” this device will not be trusted, and you will be required to request and submit a code every time you login to your account on this device

Note:

  • Go to Settings in the Pulse app to add, remove or edit verification methods and remove trusted devices

Note: if you remove your last verification method, you will be required to set up MFA the next time you login. By doing this you are also removing all of your trusted devices.

ONLY the account owner can VIEW the following:

  • Alert / Notification settings
  • Camera configuration settings
  • Light / Thermostat settings
  • Garage Door settings
  • System Lock settings 

ONLY the account owner can EDIT or CONTROL the following:

  • Invite new users
  • Alert / Notification settings
  • Add or delete cameras
  • Camera rules
  • Light / Thermostat settings
  • Panel / Lock codes
  • Garage door settings and rules
  • System lock settings and rules

ALL authenticated users can VIEW the following:

  • System activity / History
  • Light / Thermostat status
  • System lock status
  • Garage door status
  • Both live and saved video

ALL authenticated users can EDIT or CONTROL the following:

  • Control the system lock 
  • Control the garage door
  • Remotely arm / Disarm the system
  • Change system scenes / Modes
  • Delete saved video
