Places like desks, shelves, or low traffic counters are ideal placements for your Hub.

2. Attach the desk mount to the Hub. If your mount feels loose, you can tighten the mounting plate screw found in the back of your Hub with a Phillips screw driver. Note: Do not tighten the screw too much or it may crack the desk mount.

3. Connect the Hub to a power outlet. Make sure the outlet is not controlled by a switch that could accidentally cut the power, and that it is not a GFCI outlet.

• The motion detector needs to be within 350 feet of the Hub.
• The suggested height of the mounted device is 6.5” - 7.5” above the floor on a flat wall or in a corner stable surface.

When deciding the location, make sure that no large objects (or continual moving items such as balloons, ceiling fans, floor fans, etc.) block the range of vision of the device. Please note: Air circulation such as floor or wall vents may move curtains and trigger the sensor. Heat may also trigger the detector, so don’t face the motion detector too close to a heating vent or fireplace.

TIP: Pets over 55 pounds may trigger the device if they pass in front of the detector’s viewable area. You may have to adjust the height, position or location of the device to best fit your household. Also, keep in mind that the closer an object is to the motion detector the “larger” it will appear to the sensor.

A number of jurisdictions have adopted false alarm ordinances and permitting as a way to reduce false alarms. If you have an ADT professionally monitored system you may be required to purchase an alarm permit depending on your location. Be sure to check with your local Police Department and county Sherriff to see if a permit is required in your municipality and any associated false alarm fees. Please note: permits are only needed for professionally monitored systems, self-monitored systems can function without permits.

System Test: When you sign up for ADT Professional Monitoring it is required to complete a system test to ensure your system is working properly. This is a diagnostic test on your Hub, detectors and alarm between you and an ADT monitoring professional. Once your system test is complete and we have verified that we are receiving all signals, you will be put into a familiarization period.

Familiarization Period: This is a 7-day test period that allows you to learn your system and reduce the potential for false alarms. During this period, our monitoring center will not respond to your alarm.

25. Why do I have to arm my panel?

It is important to arm your panel to help ensure it is properly activated in the event of an alarm. Arming and disarming refers to the state of your security system, which determines whether it will sound a security alarm and contact ADT. Life safety devices, like smoke and “CO” detectors will still sound an alarm in the case of an emergency, even if your system is disarmed.

• Armed Away: Both perimeter (such as door/window contacts) and interior sensors (such as motion detectors) will cause the system to alarm, if triggered. For example, no one is at home, and all sensors are activated.

• Armed Stay: Motion sensors do not cause alarms if they detect motion, but door/window sensors do cause alarms if they are opened. For example, someone is at home, but you want the security panel to monitor the doors and windows.

• Disarmed: No perimeter or interior sensors cause alarms, if triggered. For example, people are at home, so none of the sensors need to be activated.

26. How do I trigger my alarm when testing?

Once your system is armed you can trigger your alarm in multiple ways:

  • Armed Away: Open door or windows that have sensors attached to them or move in front your motion detector.

  • Life Safety Devices: Press the operation test buttons.

  • Keychain Remote: Press the Stay and * button at the same time to initiate a panic alarm.

27. What do I do if some of my devices are not showing on the app?

If you recently added new devices that are not showing up in your app, they likely did not pair correctly. Please refer to your User Guide to ensure that each device was paired and saved correctly (links to each Product Guide are in FAQ #24 above).

28. What do I do if some of my devices are not getting a check mark?

Check to make sure your device was properly paired and installed. You can verify if you have installed your equipment properly by doing a Walk Test (please refer to FAQ #24 above). You can also:

• Try relocating the sensor closer to the Hub.
• Make sure the Hub and sensor are not separated by metal and there is no wall between the two.
• Try changing the plane of the sensor's wireless communication with the panel by rotating the sensor 90 degrees.
• Confirm the battery tab is completely removed.
• Replace the battery and ensure the battery is properly inserted in the device.
• For sensors that have removable covers please ensure that the cover is properly locked in place. Not doing so may trigger a tamper notification.

29. Why are you testing for a signal strength / strong cellular connection?

It is important to test signal strength and cellular connection because your panel relies on both Wi-Fi and cellular signals to provide a strong and reliable signal to ADT. This ensures that ADT will be able to monitor your home even if your Wi-Fi or internet connection is down.

30. What happens if my cellular signal strength is low or I have no coverage at all?

If your signal strength is low, try placing your panel in a different location that may have better (LTE) signal strength. Often signal strength is optimal when placed near a window.

31. How do I reset my Hub?

When you reset your Hub all your devices will be removed, any pre-set programming will be lost and the Hub will be reset to factory settings.

To reset your Hub, follow these steps:
1. Unplug the A/C adaptor and backup battery
2. Reconnect the A/C adaptor and backup battery
3. Once the Home/Emergency button starts flashing, press and hold until both buttons stop flashing
4. Your Hub will now reboot and restore to the Factory setting

Please note: Resetting your hub does not cancel your monitoring service. For instructions on cancelling your monitoring service, see the "How do I cancel my account?" FAQ.

32. Can I give my Hub to someone else?

Yes, you can give your Hub to another person. The new owner of your Hub will need to reset the Hub and create a new account.

Please note: Resetting your hub does not cancel your monitoring service. For instructions on cancelling your monitoring service, see the "How do I cancel my account?" FAQ.
