For people who want to live an active and independent lifestyle, having a way to get help in the event of an emergency is essential. With ADT Companion Service, you and the people you love can enjoy peace of mind knowing that help is just a push of a button away.

By wearing the ADT Companion Service wireless personal help pendant or wristband, you or someone you love can signal for help with the push of a button in the event of an emergency. The personal help button transmits an alarm signal to an ADT monitoring specialist who can respond to the situation via two-way voice intercom or by telephone and call for assistance if needed.

Questions and Answers

Q: How long is a typical agreement?
A: The agreement is for a one-year term. We extend special consideration for life-changing circumstances.

Q: Who does the installation?
A: If you elect to have one of our people place the base unit, it will be done by an ADT service technician.

Q: Should I test the system periodically?
A: Yes. The unit should be tested at least monthly. Base unit test instructions are included in the information presented with the base unit.

Q: Does the system need to be serviced? Who will provide the service?
A: The base unit needs no regular servicing. The base unit has self-diagnostic features that alert the home medical monitoring center if there is a problem. Usually whomever placed the base unit will replace it if there is a problem.

Q: Does this product come with a guarantee/warranty?
A: Yes. The product comes with an unconditional warranty on parts, labor and service. You will never be charged for repairs to the base unit unless the base unit or transmitter is lost.

Q: What happens if the power goes out?
A: Should your power be interrupted, the base unit has a maintenance-free, built-in rechargeable back-up battery that will operate your system for up to 12 to 20 hours. Before you battery runs out of current, the base unit will send a "low battery" signal to the home medical monitoring center to warn that the unit will soon be nonfunctional. An ADT Monitoring Specialist will then call you to advise you of the low-battery condition and answer any questions.

Q: What if I am on the phone when I need to use my pendant?
A: If you are on the phone connected to the unit, the system will disconnect your call and send the emergency signal. If other phones in your house are in use, then the system will continue to attempt to dial the monitoring station eight times. If at the end of this calling sequence, the unit has still failed to communicate, a high-pitched tone will be emitted alerting the customer that it has failed to communicate.

Q: Is there a more fail-proof method of communication?
A: Yes, for an additional charge, you can have your local phone company or ADT Companion Services install a jack that allows for total line seizure. If any phone is off the hook, or ringing, the unit will still communicate by disconnecting all phones on the premises and then dialing the monitoring station.

Q: How large is the pendant?
A: The pendant is very small and lightweight and you can select either the necklace or the wrist-strap model.

Q: Does the pendant work from my mailbox or while gardening?
A: The range of the pendant varies depending upon the location of the base unit and the outside construction materials of the home. In most cases, the pendant will operate up to 300 feet from the base unit†.

Q: Can I wear it in the shower?
A: Yes. All of the pendants are waterproof and designed to operate in the shower.

Q: What happens if I drop it?
A: If you happen to drop the base unit, you should follow the test procedure immediately to ensure the system is working properly. If it is not, the base unit will be replaced at no charge.
