It was 4 o’clock in the afternoon when customer, Joni Martinez, saw that she had missed a call from ADT on her cell phone. She decided not to return the call since she was nearing her Portland, Oregon home. She suspected that one of her sons had accidentally triggered the motion sensor on their security alarm monitoring system. When she arrived home, Joni was greeted by three squad cars and a police dog. It turned out that the Customer Care Representative had notified the police after she received the motion sensor alarm from inside the residence and could not reach the customer by phone.
Joni quickly learned that instead of responding to a routine burglar alarm as she had suspected, police were investigating an actual burglary at her home. A robber had smashed a window on her back porch, and upon entering the home set off the motion sensor. Authorities believe the intruder was in the home when ADT phoned, causing the person to panic and flee with only a lamp in hand. Joni finds peace of mind knowing that ADT is there to help protect her family and home. “Thankfully, there wasn’t enough time for the robber to take anything of real value, and most importantly, I’m glad that the alarm scared them off before my children or I arrived home from school or work,” said Joni. “I feel safe knowing that ADT is always there for us.”
